On Monday evening, two youths were seriously injured after a Police escort vehicle hit them near Baliguali square on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive Road. Out of them, Kuna Behera of Gaidal village was declared dead by the doctors after being taken to the Puri district headquarters hospital.

After the incident, the family of the deceased and the villagers have alleged that the police are trying to cover up their crime. According to them, the story of a bike collision with a bull was spread to hide the real incident.

In protest, the villagers of Gaidal have blocked the road by keeping the body on the road and burning tires. On receiving the information, Puri Sadar police station, Marine police station and Balighai Bit house police reached the spot and are holding talks with the protesters.

However, the family of the deceased and the villagers are adamant on their demands. They have made it clear that the agitation will continue until a family member is given a government job and Rs 50 lakh compensation. There is tension in the area regarding the incident.
