Puri, 04/09: A vigorous inspection campaign is underway in Puri city against traffic rule violators on the occasion of Road Safety Week. With an emphasis on preventing road accidents and ensuring the safety of passengers and the general public, checking is being carried out at various places in the city under the leadership of Puri Traffic IIC Sangita Das and Puri Regional Transport Department Traffic In-charge Sushant Kumar Patra.
A special focus is being placed on drunk & drive , reckless driving and other traffic rule violations. So far, 11 cases have been registered on the charge of drunk driving and a fine of about Rs 1.20 lakh has been collected.
According to Regional Transport Officer Amit Kumar Rana, checking will be intensified in the coming days as well. The department has requested drivers to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, wear helmets and seat belts, and obey all traffic rules.
